• Mission: Provides administrative and analytical support to the Finance Department, offering practical exposure to local government finance processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Audit Preparation: Assist with the preparation and review of schedules, reconciliations, spreadsheets, and journal entries crucial for the City’s annual audit process.
• Financial Operations: Support daily finance processes related to the general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, including reconciling financial statements and general ledger accounts.
• Reporting & Budgeting: Contribute to the creation of various financial reports, detailed spreadsheets, and essential budget-related documents for departmental and public use.
• Data Analysis: Conduct basic financial research and data analysis, preparing clear summaries of findings to inform financial decision-making.
• System Processing: Utilize the City’s ERP system to accurately process financial transactions and entries, supporting audit preparation and documentation.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student for Fall 2026, pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Eligibility verification from an academic advisor will be required upon selection.
• Experience: Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office Suite, essential for financial tasks, data management, and reporting.
• Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to conduct thorough research and data analysis, coupled with excellent oral and written communication skills to convey financial information effectively. Must also possess the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
• Requirements: Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license at the time of hire.
