Project Management / Engineering Intern | TDIndustries

The Tone:
This is an internship at TDIndustries. The company is an employee-owned Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) firm that provides complete building solutions, from design and construction to service and maintenance, for critical environments like hospitals, schools, and data centers across Texas and the Southwest. This role offers an opportunity to learn the foundational aspects of project management and engineering within a leading construction environment, contributing to the successful execution of large-scale building projects.

The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Mission: To support project managers and engineering teams in the successful initiation, management, and completion of large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), project management software (familiarity a plus)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Observe and learn from experienced project managers by participating in daily tasks that ensure successful project initiation and completion.
• Develop business acumen by delving into critical project management topics like estimating, bidding, contract management, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and financial reporting.
• Participate in on-site quality walks with superintendents and attend various project team meetings to understand operational dynamics.
• Gain foundational knowledge in project costs, material tracking, and coordination, including reviewing drawings to identify potential conflicts between trades.
• Complete an overarching project assignment throughout the summer, culminating in a presentation of insights and learning outcomes to corporate leadership.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or Mechanical Engineering. Early Career.
• Experience: No specific years of experience required.
• Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Bonus: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, familiarity with project management software, previous internship or experience in project management or related fields.
