Algorithm Engineer, 2026 New Grad (Trust & Safety)

About the Team and Role

The Algorithm Team at TikTok is at the forefront of protecting our platform and users. We are responsible for developing state-of-the-art computer vision, NLP, and multimodality models and algorithms to detect and prevent content and behaviors that violate community guidelines and related regulations. Our continuous innovation ensures TikTok provides an exceptional user experience and brings joy to everyone worldwide.

We are actively seeking talented 2026 new graduates to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will gain invaluable experience by:

• Participating in the development of cutting-edge content understanding models to significantly enhance the recognition ability of violated content within TikTok.
• Continuously optimizing our distributed model training framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product teams to define business objectives and enhance our trust and safety strategy.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to seamlessly deploy machine learning models, design efficient online model workflows, and implement scalable serving pipelines.
• Collaborate with the data scientist team to deeply understand key challenges and propose impactful data-driven strategies.
• Work on state-of-the-art content understanding techniques, which include, but are not limited to, unimodal/multimodal content classifiers, Active Learning models, Reinforcement Learning models, and Large Language Models.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or similar quantitative fields.
• Hands-on or academic experience in one or more of the following areas: Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Recommendation Systems, and related fields.
• Strong coding skills.
• Demonstrated curiosity towards new technologies and entrepreneurship, coupled with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Compensation and Benefits (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $129,960 – $246,240 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
