Junior Preconstruction Engineer | Wells
The Tone:
This is an early career role at Wells, located in an office-based environment with occasional travel required. Wells specializes in the design and construction of precast concrete projects, from concept through preliminary construction stages. This role is vital for ensuring the smooth execution of these projects, helping to avoid costly delays and ensuring that all precast components meet required standards. You will collaborate closely with internal and external design teams, project managers, and engineers to ensure all building components are accurately designed, budgeted, and coordinated for successful project delivery.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Preconstruction Planning: Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand project scope and objectives, analyzing designs for feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and constructability of precast concrete solutions.
• Design & Technical Review: Review construction documents to identify precast concrete requirements, ensure design compliance with codes and specifications, and provide technical input for efficient integration of precast elements.
• Cost Estimating: Develop and maintain budgets for precast elements, identifying potential cost-saving measures and evaluating alternative solutions for the most cost-effective approach.
• Scheduling & Logistics: Coordinate material procurement, transportation, and delivery to ensure timely installation, working with the project manager to adjust schedules based on project progress.
• Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for precast inquiries during the preconstruction phase, providing regular updates to sales and project managers and communicating solutions, costs, and progress in meetings.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. This early career role focuses on engineering and coordinating precast concrete projects.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience in design, structural design, construction, or preconstruction engineering is preferred.
• Skills: Experience with AutoCAD and Revit, knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards, effective communication, negotiation, and critical thinking skills, and possession of a valid driver’s license.
• Bonus: Knowledge of project management methodologies is preferred.
