• Mission: Install, troubleshoot, and maintain telecommunications network equipment and facilities to ensure reliable connectivity and deliver exceptional customer service.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Installation & Repair: Install, troubleshoot, test, repair, and maintain a wide range of telecommunications products and equipment, including Key Systems, PBX, Centrex Systems, customer premise equipment, and general network devices for new and existing customers.
• Outside Plant Maintenance: Perform critical work associated with splicing, repairing, and maintaining outside plant facilities and equipment, specifically aerial, buried, and underground fiber optic and copper cable.
• Facility Management: Identify and locate defective cables using various test equipment, repair damaged buried, aerial, or underground customer cables, and perform cable fault acceptance tests on newly constructed facilities.
• Site Operations: Locate, identify, and mark company underground and buried facilities to prevent damage, and operate construction equipment, including performing necessary pole climbing.
• Customer Service & Sales: Provide exceptional face-to-face customer service, proactively identify customer needs, and educate and sell TDS products and services such as Telephony, Video/CATV/DBS, Internet, and high-speed networks.

The Must-Haves
• Background: This position requires individuals to possess a foundational technical understanding of telecommunications, derived from either practical experience or military service, preparing them to support network infrastructure.
• Experience: Candidates must have at least 1 year of basic technical telecommunications experience or current/prior military service with an honorable discharge. Additionally, a minimum of 6 months of experience is required in basic fiber optic and/or copper cable splicing and repair, installation and repair, or switch training.
• Skills: A valid driver’s license is essential, along with a strong technical understanding of fiber and copper plant installation and troubleshooting. Demonstrated customer service and sales skills, including effective verbal and written communication, are also crucial for interacting with customers.
• Bonus: Availability for on-call/standby responsibilities and willingness to work overtime as needed. The ability to maintain DOT requirements for operating large vehicles and proficiency with computer applications like MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Databases, and Plant Record Systems are highly valued.
