About The Position: Software Engineering Intern

Qumulo has engineered a state-of-the-art modern file data platform from the ground up, capable of running natively in the public cloud or in private data centers, empowering customers to “Scale Anywhere”. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to this vision.

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will be a full member of the Qumulo engineering team, engaging in production-level work within the system. Your contributions will be instrumental in enhancing an innovative product, fueling customer innovation, and supporting the growth of the Qumulo business.

Qumulo seeks committed, adaptive engineers from diverse backgrounds who are reliable in solving problems proactively. Engineers collaborate extensively within the product development organization and across the company to maintain a continuously integrated and deployed codebase. The environment promotes collaborative coding, where individual engineers have a voice, and teams are empowered to design and build features that deliver clear value to customers.

Responsibilities

As a Software Engineering Intern, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with team members on design discussions, code reviews, and pair programming initiatives.
  • Working closely with team members and area leads on the architecture and design of new or updated features.
  • Making meaningful contributions to feature development and testing, primarily utilizing C, Rust, and Python.
  • Defining and implementing both customer-facing features and internal system improvements.
  • Assisting in debugging and resolving test failures, as well as product or service issues.

Qualifications

To be considered for this internship, candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to write well-factored and well-tested code.
  • A strong grasp of algorithms and data structures.
  • Some foundational experience or knowledge in areas such as distributed systems, database concepts, concurrent programming, or operating systems concepts.
  • At least one class, previous internship, or personal project experience using C, C++, Rust, Java, or Go.
  • A willingness to work collaboratively within a team to tackle complex problems.
  • Currently pursuing a BS or BA in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or possessing equivalent practical experience.
