Whiting-Turner Entry-Level Engineers are integral team members who contribute to the successful management of all aspects of construction projects. Reporting to a Project Manager and/or a Superintendent, the Entry-Level Engineer’s major duties include:

  • Coordinating Work: Collaborating with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors, and/or directly supervising the work of all trades assigned to a construction work site.
  • Financial Management: Managing estimating and bidding processes, and meticulously tracking costs to effectively manage the project budget.
  • Design and Field Resolution: Resolving and clarifying design issues, and identifying and resolving field issues and change orders.
  • Contract Documentation: Drafting contracts and purchase orders utilizing company boilerplate language to accurately document all ordered work, schedules, projected costs, change orders, and technical specifications.
  • Meeting Participation: Actively participating in meetings to coordinate work and address labor concerns.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensuring that all work is completed in strict accordance with quality standards and contract specifications.
  • Schedule Implementation: Implementing comprehensive project schedules, including each task associated with project completion.
  • Project Documentation: Thoroughly documenting the technical, financial, and personnel aspects of each project.
  • Review and Oversight: Reviewing project drawings, specifications, submittals, and change orders.
  • Progress Monitoring: Reviewing each trade’s work progress with respect to each project phase.
  • Field Support: Providing essential field support to construction superintendents to help ensure contract compliance, quality control, and maintenance of the site.
  • Milestone Tracking: Tracking project phase completion against established milestones.
  • Safety Management: Setting clear expectations for managing a safe work site.
  • Phase Documentation: Documenting each phase of the project comprehensively.
