Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a current University of Kentucky student to work off-campus with a local Lexington employer, focusing on providing exceptional customer service within the equestrian community. Please note, this position is not affiliated with UK.

As a Student – Sales Associate, you will be instrumental in assisting equestrians with product selection and ensuring the proper fit of essential items such as helmets, boots, and safety vests. Your responsibilities will include handling customer inquiries in person and over the phone, processing sales accurately at the register, and managing inventory tasks like inputting data and restocking merchandise. A key part of your role will be to maintain a clean, organized, and inviting tack shop environment. You will gain valuable experience working independently, including confidently managing daily operations, and performing opening and closing duties for the store. The ability to lift 30+ pounds is required for this role.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, or Eventing discipline.
  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to work through the summer season.
  • Must be available for 2 – 3 weekdays for 4-hour shifts and some Saturdays for 4–6-hour shifts throughout the year.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing the store alone.
  • Ability to lift 30+ pounds.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Retail experience.
  • Customer Service experience.
  • Happy to train the right candidate.
