Early Career: Internship Program

GPI’s Internship and Co-op programs serve as a crucial pipeline to our full-time Leadership Development Program (LDP). The LDP is a highly visible, 12-month program designed to develop operational, business, and leadership skills through structured learning and a hands-on approach. It offers fast-track industry experience with full-time tracks in areas such as operations, sales, engineering, finance, and supply chain.

Job Responsibilities:

Internship responsibilities are varied and depend upon the specific division, function, department, and manager. Intern opportunities may exist in the following areas:

  • Business Functions: Accounting, Marketing, Finance, Sales, Human Resources, Supply Chain, Information Technology, Construction Management, and other support functions.
  • Engineering & Technical Fields: Graphic Design, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Paper Science, Packaging.

Interns in these fields will work on a variety of hands-on projects.

Background Experience:

Prior experiences that demonstrate initiative, intellectual curiosity, strong problem-solving skills, success managing multiple priorities, and working well in a team under deadline pressure are highly desirable. This may include:

  • Internships or co-op assignments.
  • Summer jobs, volunteer work.
  • Leadership roles in student or college-affiliated organizations.
  • Full-time or part-time positions.
  • Work experience related to your field of study is particularly desirable.

Education Experience:

  • Required: Seeking an undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Paper Science, Packaging, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or any other related degree.
  • Desired Skills: Strong relationship-building skills to collaborate effectively with division leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced Degrees: An advanced degree is considered but not required.

Work Environment:

  • Physical Demands: May involve sitting or standing for extended periods (up to 8 hours) and occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs).
  • Technology Use: Extended reading on computer screens or other electronic devices, and use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
  • Schedule: Generally an 8-hour, Monday-Friday assignment. However, internship and co-op experiences may involve extracurricular or “get out in the world” activities. Alternate schedules, including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends, may occasionally be required.

Travel:

Occasional overnight travel may be required, which could include flying or driving.
