About the Role

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Summer Intern with a keen interest in programming language implementation and compiler design. This is an unparalleled opportunity to contribute to the development of Mojo, a revolutionary new programming language designed to blend the expressiveness of Python with the raw performance of C, specifically optimized for modern AI hardware.

What You Will Work On

As an intern on the Mojo team, you will dive deep into the core of programming language development. Your work will directly impact the Mojo compiler implementation, focusing on key areas such as:

  • Adding new language features to enhance Mojo’s capabilities.
  • Speeding up the compiler to improve developer efficiency.
  • Improving the performance of the generated code, ensuring Mojo leverages AI hardware to its fullest potential.

Location

This internship is open to candidates based in the United States. To foster growth and collaboration, all interns will work in a hybrid capacity at our Los Altos, CA office, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week on-site. For out-of-state candidates, relocation assistance will be provided to support your move to the Bay Area.

What You Bring To The Table

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • Fluency in C++ and extensive prior experience with the language.
  • Demonstrated previous experience with MLIR.
  • A strong interest and passion for programming languages.
  • Some existing compiler-related projects under your belt, showcasing practical experience.

Compensation

The estimated base hourly range for this role is $47.00 – $65.00 USD. The actual hourly rate for the successful applicant will be determined based on a variety of permissible, non-discriminatory job-related factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, education, training, work experience, business needs, and market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
