Intern Position Summary: Hardware Development – Research & Development

This is an in-person internship opportunity at EVgo Headquarters, where you will be working directly in our lab. You will operate under the guidance and mentorship of our Mechanical Engineer within the Hardware Development team. Your primary focus will be to assist with the research and development of critical charging cable cooling infrastructure. This encompasses various components and systems, including:

  • Piping systems
  • Heat exchangers
  • High voltage connectors
  • Charging cables

Responsibilities:

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, building, and conducting thermal and high current test stages.
  • Performing rigorous testing protocols.
  • Analyzing collected data thoroughly.
  • Writing comprehensive reports on your findings and insights.
  • Assisting in the automation and innovation of current test procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Recent college graduate or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

Desired Qualifications:

Candidates possessing the following skills and experiences will be highly valued:

  • Python and/or other coding proficiency.
  • Strong Data Analysis capabilities.
  • Prior Lab Experience.
  • Knowledge of Electronics.
  • Familiarity with Arduino or similar microcontrollers.
  • Understanding of Thermodynamics principles.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or other CAD software.
  • Project Experience with:
    • Heat exchangers.
    • Cooling systems.
    • Piping systems.
  • Project Experience in Ergonomics.
  • Project Experience with Coding and Automation.

Compensation:

The hourly pay for this position ranges from $22.00/hour to $27.00/hour USD. The specific hourly pay may vary based on job-related factors, including the candidate’s education, knowledge, skills, and relevant experience.
