Program Overview

The City of Coral Springs City Attorney’s Office is actively seeking a dedicated Intern to join our team for the upcoming Summer! This program is specifically designed to introduce college and university students to the various aspects and intricate workings of municipal government.

Our goal is to provide students with real, practical experience that will significantly enhance their academic studies and professional aspirations. This is an entry-level position offering a unique opportunity to gain invaluable insights into municipal government and multiple areas of law by assisting with a diverse range of projects.

Key Program Details

• Program Duration: Planned to run from June 8th to July 31st.
• Work Hours: Intern hours will vary according to the needs of the City Attorney’s Office. Applicants must be willing to work approximately 20 – 24 hours per week during the Summer academic semester.

Rate of Pay

• Undergraduate Students: $15.00 per hour
• Graduate/Law School Students: $18.00 per hour

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities

As an Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to the office’s operations, with responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Performs research and analysis of legal issues.
• Compiles, proofreads, and revises drafts of memoranda of law.
• Attends public meetings as directed.
• Drafts pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Attends court hearings and assists attorneys as directed.
• Reviews contracts, resolutions, ordinances, and other documents for legal sufficiency.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in law school.
• Must have successfully completed and passed their 1L Coursework before the summer academic semester.
• Willingness to commit to approximately 20 – 24 hours per week during the Summer academic semester.
• All Interns will be required to pass a comprehensive background screening, which may include criminal history searches, education verification, and other relevant checks.
