Job Summary

As a System Safety Engineer, you’ll be ensuring our products are safe for the warfighter. This critical role involves applying system safety principles throughout the product lifecycle to identify, analyze, and mitigate hazards.

Key Responsibilities

System Safety Engineering job duties include:

  • Analysis and recommendation of safety criteria in system design.
  • Hazard analysis and development of procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
  • Software safety assessments.
  • Hazardous material management planning and execution.
  • Development of safety documentation.
  • Support to operational testing and test range requirements.
  • Participation in design reviews, customer briefings, and system safety review boards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering discipline such as electrical, mechanical, or a related discipline.

Desired Skills

  • Experienced with Microsoft Office (POWERPOINT, ACCESS, WORD, EXCEL).
  • Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing assigned tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships are a must.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Work Schedule & Location Information

  • Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
  • Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility, ranging from standard 40 hours over a five-day work week to condensed schedules offering additional time away from the office.

Salary & Benefits

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position is:

  • $31,616 – $77,788 for positions in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington D.C.
  • $36,504 – $77,788 for positions in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York.
  • For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location.

Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

  • Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays.
  • Represented full-time employees: accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
  • PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
