Civil Construction Engineering Internship

As a Civil Construction Intern, you will work alongside Benesch’s dedicated Construction Engineering professionals, who are committed to delivering high-quality solutions for critical infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on field experience, where you will support the inspection and documentation of road, water main, and sewer construction projects. You’ll gain valuable exposure to construction observation, project documentation, and have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced engineers and project managers.

Location

This internship is field-based, providing extensive opportunities to collaborate on active projects and receive direct mentorship from Project Engineers and Project Managers.

What You Will Need

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (EIT preferred).
  • Experience working on field projects a plus.
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, MicroStation, GeoPak, and/or AutoCAD is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently within budgets and schedules.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Compensation

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the State of Illinois Pay Transparency Act, Illinois Pay Transparency Law.

Illinois Pay Range: $18—$26 USD per hour

The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary, overtime, and bonuses.
