Job Summary
About the Program
We are thrilled to offer current college students an immersive and highly practical experience through our Aggregate Internship Development Program (IDP). This intensive 10-week program, commencing each year in May, is meticulously designed to provide participants with valuable hands-on experience and cultivate a deep, comprehensive understanding of our complex operations within the Aggregate division. As an Intern Development Program participant, you will gain significant exposure to various critical functional areas, including but not limited to the core Aggregate functions of:
- Mine Planning
- Process Improvements
- Quality and Reliability
- Inventory Maintenance
- Data Management
Job Responsibilities
What You Will Experience
As a Cemex USA Intern, your summer will be exceptionally rich with opportunities to learn, make meaningful contributions, and significantly grow both personally and professionally. Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following key areas:
- Safety First: Understand that safety is the fundamental cornerstone of all Cemex operations. You will not only learn about our stringent safety protocols and best practices but will also actively participate in promoting and diligently ensuring a safe and secure working environment for everyone.
- Project-Based Experience: Engage deeply in challenging and impactful projects that will furnish you with a comprehensive, end-to-end view of our Aggregate operations. You will collaborate directly with experienced professionals to effectively solve real-world problems and drive measurable, positive change within the organization.
- Skill Building: Systematically develop and enhance both essential technical skills and crucial soft skills through hands-on work assignments and continuous, structured learning opportunities. You will also be given the valuable chance to refine your public speaking and presentation skills by sharing your project outcomes and insights directly with our leadership team.
- Networking and Collaboration: Actively build valuable connections with both your peers and seasoned professionals across various departments within the organization. These interactions will provide you with a broader industry perspective and help you cultivate a robust professional network vital for your future career trajectory.

Qualifications
Who We Are Looking For
We are actively seeking highly motivated students who are eager to thoroughly explore the intricate world of end-to-end Aggregate operations and are committed to maximizing this invaluable learning opportunity. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Educational Foundation: Currently pursuing an active bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Mining Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Geology, or a closely related discipline, with at least a junior year standing.
- Academic Performance: A strong academic record with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or above, with a distinct preference for candidates who have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Leadership Potential: Demonstrated strong leadership qualities and a proactive, results-oriented approach to problem-solving in academic, extracurricular, or previous professional settings.
- Communication Skills: Possess robust analytical capabilities and excellent communication abilities, with the proven capacity to articulate ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively in both written and verbal forms.
- Technical Proficiency: Previous practical experience from individuals who genuinely share our passion for the industry, having gained valuable insights through prior internships, co-op programs, or significant university projects.
- Team Collaboration: An ability to thrive in both independent work environments and enjoy active, constructive participation in team-oriented projects.
Working Conditions
The internship role involves the following working conditions:
- Work Schedule: This is a dedicated full-time, on-site internship requiring a 40-hour work week, typically scheduled Monday through Friday.
- Environment: Expect a dynamic mix of office-based work and extensive fieldwork, where you will be regularly exposed to varying environmental conditions, including diverse outdoor settings.
