Responsibilities

Our internship program closely mirrors the full-time Financial Representative career, allowing you to:

  • Learn effective strategies for prospecting and networking to build your business and client base.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy.
  • Call on potential clients and set meetings to understand their financial goals.
  • Prepare tailored financial plans and offer useful recommendations.
  • Gain exposure to proprietary financial planning software platforms.
  • Participate in weekly coaching, training, and development meetings.
  • Receive support to obtain Risk Product State Licensing: Life, Accident, and Health.
  • Build invaluable life skills that create future career opportunities.

As a Northwestern Mutual College Financial Representative, you can expect a flexible schedule designed to accommodate your academic commitments. With the option to participate year-round, you can continuously grow your practice and receive support for achieving additional registrations and certifications such as the Series 6 & 63 or CFP®. You’ll be inspired at local and national recognition events, gain access to leadership development programs, and collaborate with industry experts. Our diverse culture provides ample resources for both personal and professional growth. Eligible students will also have the opportunity to interview for a full-time Financial Representative or Advisor role upon graduation.

Qualifications

Are you the ideal candidate for this internship?

  • Currently a full-time student; juniors and seniors are preferred.
  • Possess entrepreneurial ambitions and a strong curiosity for sales.
  • Highly involved on campus (e.g., leader, athlete, campus organizations, student government).
  • Demonstrate excellent time-management skills.
  • Have an interest in financial literacy and planning tools.
  • Exhibit business savvy and a desire to enhance critical thinking abilities.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Performance-based earnings and revenue.
  • Learning and Development Incentives (up to $1000/month, not inclusive of earned commissions).
  • Productivity Bonuses.
  • Support for insurance licensing (life, health, DI, LTC).
  • Support for SIE, Series 6, Series 63 registrations (eligibility required).

Salary Range: USD $500.00 – USD $1,000.00 /Yr.
