About the Clinical Internship:
This Clinical Internship offers a unique opportunity for aspiring mental health professionals to gain invaluable experience within a leading specialty healthcare system. Interns will work directly with adults and adolescents in a residential setting, focusing on the treatment of eating disorders. Under the direct supervision of independently licensed clinicians, interns will develop and refine their clinical skills, contributing to the vital mission of saving lives and promoting healthy recovery.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Receive individual and group supervision from an independently licensed clinician, fully aligned with graduate program requirements.
  • Access additional clinical training opportunities provided by the organization and specific departments.
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments, actively participate in treatment planning, lead individual and family sessions, and contribute to discharge planning, all under the close supervision of licensed clinicians and with increasing levels of independence throughout the academic year.
  • Develop strong group counseling skills and take leadership roles in therapeutic groups.
  • Manage case management and program operations responsibilities as defined by each program and manager.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts with the multidisciplinary treatment team and across the Walden continuum of care.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Actively pursuing a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience providing direct clinical care in a mental health setting.
  • Preferably in an eating disorder or inpatient psychiatric setting.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Actively pursuing an LICSW, LCSW, LMHC, or eligible in the required state.
  • CPR and CPI certifications are preferred.

Knowledge:

  • Must possess strong clinical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric group process, therapeutic relationship processes, age-specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, and crisis management with aggressive behaviors.

Required Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to prioritize independently.
  • Capacity to multi-task effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced mental health environment.
  • Ability to thrive and contribute in a highly collaborative, team-oriented setting.
