Triumph Geared Solutions – Park City, UT

This specific internship is with Triumph Geared Solutions, based in Park City, UT. This facility is a leading independent aerospace gear and gearbox supplier for commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets, employing approximately 200 individuals.

Key products and services include:
• Power transmission systems
• Integrated gearbox design and builds
• Airframe Mounted Accessory Drives (AMAD’s)
• Engine Mounted Accessory Drives (EMAD’s)
• Rotorcraft transmissions
• Turboshaft internal gearboxes
• Emergency power gearboxes
• Large complex aero gears for both Original Equipment (OE) and aftermarket/spares end markets.

Job Overview: Summer 2026 Design Engineering Intern

Triumph is actively seeking a Summer 2026 Design Engineering Intern to provide technical support within a dynamic manufacturing production environment. The intern will contribute to the engineering team’s objectives by undertaking various technical and problem-solving tasks. This internship offers a college-level student practical, hands-on experience directly related to their major, designed to significantly enhance and complement their academic learning.

Key Responsibilities:

The Design Engineering Intern will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to:
• Utilizing Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programs to design Aerospace parts.
• Applying Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools to evaluate part performance against technical specifications.
• Investigating new additively manufactured metal alloys for their strength, fatigue resistance, and damage tolerance to determine suitability for company performance requirements.
• Preparing and participating in design reviews and program updates to communicate technical findings to customers.
• Reviewing technical drawings and critical documents for suppliers.
• Aiding in assembly, testing, test fixture updates, and manufacturing improvements.
• Performing additional duties as assigned to support the engineering team.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Must be a Rising Junior or Senior at the time of the internship.
• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain flexibility.
• Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Desired/Beneficial:

• Experience in the design of rotating equipment, including any gear design.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes such as milling, turning, grinding, plating, and heat treatment of metals.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Proficiency in CAD (Computer-Aided Design), with experience in Pro-Engineer being particularly beneficial.
• Familiarity with CREO, Ansys, or LABVIEW software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong writing aptitude.
