Your assignment as a Safety Intern will be meticulously custom-designed to align with available projects, your individual development plans, specific skill sets, and long-term career aspirations. This means you will be assigned to one of our many challenging project sites or regional offices for the duration of your internship, experiencing first-hand the dynamic nature of large-scale industrial construction across various regions. The ability to travel and/or relocate as required for projects is a fundamental aspect of this role, promising a truly unique and evolving professional adventure.
Key Responsibilities: Shaping a Culture of Safety
As a Safety Intern, you will play a crucial role as an integral part of our safety team, contributing directly to the implementation and oversight of our rigorous Project Safety Program. Your responsibilities will include:
• Program Development & Implementation: Actively participate in the development and practical application of site-specific safety policies and procedures, ensuring they are comprehensive and effective.
• Compliance Monitoring: Assist in closely monitoring diverse construction project activities to ensure strict adherence to pertinent government regulations (Federal, State, and Provincial), client requirements, and company-specific safety policies and procedures.
• Hazard Identification & Prevention: Aid in establishing and diligently monitoring safe working conditions, safeguarding our most valuable assets – our people.
• Corrective Action & Performance Improvement: Contribute to providing recommendations for corrective actions and assist in implementing robust metrics for tracking and reporting on safety performance issues when they arise.
• Work Plan Review: Review project work plans to verify their accuracy and conformance with all established safety standards and guidelines.
• Audits, Coaching & Training: Support the safety team in conducting thorough safety program audits, providing on-site coaching, and delivering regular safety training sessions to project personnel.
• Adaptability: You must demonstrate the ability to effectively carry out duties in widely varying work environments, including diverse weather conditions and challenging terrain.
• Mobility: The capacity to travel and/or relocate as required for project assignments is essential.
Qualifications: What We’re Looking For
We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals who meet the following criteria:
• Academic Pursuit: Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a closely related field of study.
• Technical Proficiency: A working knowledge of computers, with proven experience in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Organizational Acumen: Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks and manage responsibilities.
• Communication Excellence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, crucial for interacting with all levels of the organization and for documentation.
• Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail, with the innate ability to recognize and address discrepancies in safety practices and documentation.
• Unwavering Work Ethic: Possess a strong work ethic and the willingness to do what it takes to get the job done safely and efficiently.
• Collaborative Spirit: The ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization, from craft personnel in the field to leadership in the office.
• Team & Individual Contributor: Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a valuable member of a team.
• Physical Agility: The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environmental conditions.
• Flexibility: The capacity and willingness to travel and relocate as required by project needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of construction safety practices and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• Certifications: Certification as a Safety Professional (CSP) or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) is highly preferred.

• Work Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines, with the flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required by project demands.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Compensation: $18.00/hr – $22.00/hr
