Job Summary:
Find your calling at Mercy as a Radiology Technologist Intern. This role involves performing diagnostic radiology procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed X-Ray Technologist, X-Ray Supervisor, Manager/Director of Imaging Services, and Radiologist. The primary responsibility is to perform radiographic imaging procedures while consistently obtaining optimal image quality. The intern will provide personalized care, recognizing the worth and dignity of each patient, and ensure compliance with patient care quality standards across all age groups, from neonate to geriatric. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed consistent with Mercy’s mission, vision, and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic radiology procedures with optimal image quality.
- Manipulate X-ray equipment, including mobile and other advanced equipment.
- Carry and manage imaging cassettes efficiently.
- Select and accurately manipulate exposure factors for various procedures.
- Evaluate radiographs for quality and diagnostic value.
- Lift, move, and transport patients safely and compassionately.
- Maintain continual standing and walking throughout shifts.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Adapt effectively to a fast-paced daily workload.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Provide personalized, dignified care to patients ranging from neonate to geriatric.
- Ensure adherence to patient care quality standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in a nationally accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
Certification/Registration:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Strong capability to manipulate X-ray equipment and related tools.
- Physical capability to carry cassettes, lift, move, and transport patients.
- Ability to select and manipulate exposure factors accurately.
- A keen eye for evaluating radiographs.
- Stamina for continual standing and walking.
- A proactive approach to recognizing emergency situations.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced and dynamic daily workload.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Additional languages are preferred to better serve a diverse patient population.
