Job Description: InfoSec Intern

This role is for an InfoSec Intern who will play a crucial part within the Information Security (InfoSec) team, focusing on data protection, security risk mitigation, and incident response, particularly concerning customer data flows.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in mapping and creating Data Flow Diagrams (DFDs) to visually represent how customer data is captured, processed, stored, and shared across various applications, systems, and vendors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate data security risks.
• Work closely within the InfoSec team to address security concerns and help with incident response.
• Support the development and implementation of data protection strategies and initiatives.
• Review and improve InfoSec controls to ensure they are up to date and fully applied.
• Query databases and manipulate data to prepare datasets for analysis, focusing on human behavior.
• Assist in creating reports, charts, and graphs to present findings and insights on data flows to stakeholders.
• Participate in meetings and contribute to discussions on data security issues and solutions.

Requirements:
• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Information Security, or a related field.
• Possess a basic understanding of privacy, data management principles, and database concepts.
• Have a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat modeling, application security testing, and secure software development practices.
• Demonstrate a passion for computers and security.
• Show a strong desire to learn and a keen sense of curiosity.
• Able to commit to a 12-week internship beginning in May or June of 2026, and available full-time (Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm).
• Ability to relocate to the Bay Area, California, for the duration of the internship.

Qualifications:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the capacity to break down complex concepts for various audiences.
• Familiarity with data flow diagram methodologies or a strong interest in learning visual process documentation.
• Familiarity with networking concepts (such as how websites work, the function of ports and IP addresses, and how encryption operates).

Bonus Qualifications:
• SQL knowledge.
• Knowledge of data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Familiarity with data protection tools and technologies.

Compensation and Benefits:
• The monthly salary range for this position is $5,500 to $7,500.
• Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level of education.
• Additional benefits may include medical insurance and a housing stipend.
• Relocation assistance will be offered based on eligibility.
