Job Description: Studio Finance Intern (NextGen Internship Program)
This is a paid, 10-week NextGen Internship Program designed to provide valuable real-world experience. The intern will work in-person at the Sunset Gower Studios location in Hollywood, CA. As an integral member of the Studio Finance team, the intern will contribute to day-to-day operations, assist on special projects, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to gain exposure to the inner workings of the company, enhancing their learning journey and development.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):
• Support the Finance team during monthly and quarterly reporting cycles by pulling data from the ERP system, consolidating financial information, and preparing materials for executive-level presentations.
• Assist with financial data analysis by organizing datasets in Excel, identifying trends, and helping refine reporting templates and workflows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather variance explanations, operational updates, and key business drivers that impact financial performance.
• Communicate with department leaders via email, Microsoft Teams, and in-person discussions to collect and clarify financial insights used in reporting.
• Participate in the development or enhancement of financial dashboards or reporting tools as part of a summer-long reporting improvement project.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing the efficiency, accuracy, and clarity of the Studio Finance team’s reporting outputs.
• Complete a final Summer Showcase presentation outlining learned experiences and projects, presented to fellow interns and team members.
• Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need (Requirements & Preferred Qualifications):
Required:
• Applicants must have recently completed (within the last 2 years) or be currently enrolled in an applicable college-level or trade school program.
• Applicants must submit a resume and cover letter. The cover letter must clearly indicate desired location & department(s) of interest, availability, and outline how major, prior work experience, and/or career goals apply.
Preferred:
• Pursuing or recently completed coursework in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or another numbers-focused major.
• Basic experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with comfort working in spreadsheets, organizing data, and manipulating datasets.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to reach out to cross-functional teams, ask clarifying questions, and help interpret financial insights.
• Interest in learning how a corporate finance team operates day-to-day, including reporting cycles, variance analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to stay organized when working with multiple data sources and deadlines.
