About the Internship – Finance Intern, Resource Management & Planning (RMP) Department at Port Authority of New York and New Jersey
This internship is offered by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, specifically within its Resource Management & Planning (RMP) Department.
The mission of the RMP Department is to support the delivery of quality services that align with the mission of the Chief Security Office (CSO) and broader Agency objectives. This is achieved by establishing, implementing, and monitoring resource management policies and programs for all departments under the CSO. RMP aims to empower CSO Departments by fostering greater independence and objectivity in the assessment of projects, programs, and performance, while simultaneously ensuring more consistent management of crucial information across various security business areas. The intern will be joining the Finance team within this department.
Responsibilities:
The intern will gain hands-on experience in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis. Key responsibilities include:
• Assisting with the preparation of budget planning documents.
• Inputting budget data into the Port Authority’s budget system (BudgetPro).
• Reconciling budget data after system syncs to ensure accuracy between the budget system and Excel spreadsheets.
• Attending various budget meetings with the Finance team and senior-level staff to understand department operations and the budgeting process.
• Assisting with the preparation of bi-weekly overtime reports, utilizing data from PeopleSoft and Indeavor.
• Preparing variance analyses for budget submissions.
• Assisting with the analysis of monthly financial results, using data from the accounting system (SAP) and bi-weekly Public Safety overtime reports.
• Assisting with ad hoc projects and analyses as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
• Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship.
• Majoring in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.

Internship Details:
• Start Date: Thursday, May 28, 2026.
• Duration: Approximately 12 weeks, concluding on Friday, August 21, 2026.
• Schedule: Full-time, 5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day.
• Work Arrangement: This position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week, in accordance with Port Authority policy. Regular in-office days or team collaboration days may be required based on business needs, as in-person collaboration is considered essential. Some internships may necessitate being fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits:
• Hourly Rate: The hourly rate ranges from $18.07 to $30.31, with the exact rate determined by the internship type and the intern’s rising school year.
