Job description, detailed

This posting is for a Systems Engineering Internship at SAIC for the summer of 2026. The positions are located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Target Audience: The internship is open to rising college juniors or seniors who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a STEM-related field, such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.

Specific Roles: The Ground-Based Radar Maintenance and Sustainment Services (GMASS) program at SAIC has three Systems Engineering internship positions available, focusing on:
Systems Engineering
Mission Engineering
Tools Engineering

Interns will be involved in performing systems support, modeling and simulation, design, and sustainment activities on a government radar system.

Potential Roles And Responsibilities:
• Working collaboratively with subject matter experts to document and update legacy hardware and software systems.
• Performing Systems Engineering activities related to Mission Engineering, which may encompass requirements definition, system analysis and design, and systems integration.
• Conducting functional and system performance studies to translate customer requirements into specifications.
• Reviewing and assessing requirements, diagrams, and various documents.
• Developing modeling and simulation using tools like MATLAB and STK.

Areas Of Technical Interest (Desired Skills/Knowledge):
• Interest or knowledge of systems principal architecture.
• Knowledge of operating systems, MATLAB, Python, or C/C++.
• Understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP and firewalls.
• Ability to troubleshoot anomalies and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to resolve issues.
• Understanding of Cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).

Qualifications (Required):
• Active pursuit of a BS in a STEM-related degree field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Hands-on experience in analyzing time series data.
Must be willing and able to obtain a Secret security clearance. It is important to note that Federal law requires U.S. citizenship to obtain a security clearance.

Salary Information: The target salary range for this internship is Up to $40,000. This estimate represents the typical salary range for the position, influenced by factors such as experience.
