This position is for a Controls Intern within the robotics R&D team.

Overall Purpose:
The Controls Intern will play a crucial role in contributing to the design, development, and testing of control systems essential for advanced robotic platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience and apply modern control techniques in a real-world robotics environment.

Responsibilities:

• Support the creation and refinement of control algorithms, various robotics subsystems, and integrated embedded features.
• Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and electronics engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems across different components.
• Assist in identifying, diagnosing, and resolving control-related challenges to enhance overall system performance and reliability.
• Engage in continuous learning by applying modern control techniques, embedded system methodologies, and advanced robotics automation concepts.
• Contribute to the preparation of essential documentation, including wiring diagrams, control architecture notes, and comprehensive test reports.
• Participate actively in design and technical reviews, incorporating valuable feedback into the development of control features.
• Contribute to hands-on tasks such as prototyping, integrating various sensors, performing system calibration, and conducting rigorous testing of robotic systems.
• Assist in the development and continuous improvement of automated testing setups specifically for control systems.
• Proactively seek mentorship and engage in ongoing professional development to foster continuous learning and growth.
• Efficiently manage assigned tasks and provide support to ensure the timely completion of R&D milestones.
• Adhere strictly to safety guidelines and maintain high engineering and documentation standards throughout all work processes.

Qualifications (Requirements & Desired Skills):

Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a closely related engineering field.
Technical Understanding:
• Strong foundational understanding of control systems, robotics principles, and automation fundamentals.
• Familiarity with various types of motors, motor drivers, sensors, and embedded hardware components.
• Practical experience with microcontrollers and programming in C/C++ (or a similar relevant programming language).
• Basic knowledge of control system design methodologies, simulation tools, or modeling techniques.
• An understanding of standard wiring practices, how to interpret schematics, and basic electronics debugging procedures.
Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, learn new concepts quickly, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
