Job Description: Mechanical Systems Summer Internship

This is an exciting opportunity for students to join Kalmar as a Summer Intern for a duration of 10-12 weeks. The company values the development of students and aims to provide a challenging and interesting experience to help interns gain essential skills for their future careers. Interns will be assigned real work tasks from day one, fostering empowerment and responsibility.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and support mechanical systems for both current and future projects. This includes demonstrating a broad understanding of systems and system-interactions for both diesel and electric-powered Kalmar terminal tractors. Interns will also be involved in designing subsystems to meet global customer needs, legislation, and internal requirements.

Main tasks and responsibilities for this internship include:
• Developing new truck components and assemblies.
• Processing Engineering Change Requests and implementing design changes.
• Choosing appropriate design solutions, materials, and components based on customer demands.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to succeed:
Education: A High School diploma or equivalent is required. An Associate’s Degree or pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field (Junior or higher) is strongly preferred.
Experience: Proficiency in 3D modeling, with Catia preferred.
Competencies:
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project, Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Slides, Google Drive, and Calendar).
• Possess a strong work ethic and be dependable.
• Demonstrate high attention to detail.

Working Together With: The intern may be required to collaborate with TT RDE personnel globally, project managers, and Sourcing personnel.
