Job Description:
This is a temporary position primarily focused on assisting Vehicle Maintenance Technicians.
Position Purpose:
The main responsibility is to assist Vehicle Maintenance Technicians with the repair and maintenance of plant mobile equipment within the company’s dedicated vehicle maintenance area.
Essential Duties:
• Assist with the repair and maintenance of a variety of plant vehicles and mobile equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance along with repairs addressing both electrical and mechanical issues.
• Conduct general shop mechanic work on a range of equipment including gas and diesel automobiles, manlifts, forklifts, and dump trucks.
• Perform specific repairs such as repairing tires, brakes, windows, doors, heating and cooling systems, drive trains, and conducting oil changes.
• Assist with other company functions, which may include events like DGC Family Night.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year Mechanical Maintenance program with at least one year completed, OR be a recent graduate (within the past 12 months) of such a program.
• Must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license.
• A transcript is required at the time of application; applications without an attached transcript will not be reviewed.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous internship or relevant work experience.
• Additional certifications or coursework in the field of study.
Physical and Environmental Demands:
The role requires a high degree of physical activity and exposure to various environmental conditions:
• Physical Activities: Continuous walking; frequent standing, bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching above and below shoulder level. Occasional sitting, crawling, lifting 50 pounds from knee to shoulder high, pushing and pulling up to 60 pounds.
• Tool Use: Continuous use of tools and occasional turning of valves and use of foot controls. Requires a grip strength of 45 pounds.
• Work Environment: The majority of the shift is spent indoors. Occasionally requires working at heights from 10 to 100 feet and in high climbing areas on grating, ladders, scaffolding, and other areas requiring the use of safety equipment.
• Exposures: Continuously exposed to noise; frequently exposed to dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, and extreme heat and cold, and occasionally exposed to vibration, poor ventilation, and confined areas.
• Safety Equipment: Incumbent is required to wear dust masks, respirators, and full face Scott Air Paks when necessary.
• Work Schedule: May occasionally be required to work rotating shifts.
• Sensory Requirements: Requires good finger dexterity, good binocular vision, good color vision and hearing, and the ability to speak.
• Driving: Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
• Cognitive Abilities: Must have the ability to perform close accurate work, communicate effectively with others, present information in a clear, concise manner, and follow verbal and written instructions.

Wage:
The wage for this position is $28.00 per hour.
