• Job Title: Events Intern
• Company: Autism Speaks
• Program Duration: 10-12 week remote program for the Fall semester.
• Academic Credit: Students must be eligible for academic credit to participate.
• Location: This is a remote position, but the applicant must live in the New York region, specifically downstate New York (Westchester or New York City).
• Reporting To: Area Executive Director
• Team: Member of the development team.
• Program Goal: To gain valuable event planning experience within a non-profit setting. Interns will develop working knowledge of key event skills, including creating event timelines, understanding planning processes, and executing community outreach, which are translatable into future career opportunities.
• Experience Focus: Ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in Non-Profit Special Events.
• Training & Supervision: The intern will receive necessary training and staff supervision.
• Work Schedule: Commitment to a flexible work schedule of 20 hours per week during standard business hours.
Duties:
• Assist with event logistics for various events held across downstate New York.
• Support outreach and stewardship efforts for donors, sponsors, and volunteers.
• Assist with school outreach initiatives.
• Contribute to Area marketing and communications, including the creation of email and social media content.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Assist with the management of two (2) silent auctions.
Qualifications:
• Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree.
• Must be able to receive class credit for the internship.
• Commitment to a flexible work schedule of 20 hours per week during standard business hours.
• Demonstrates superior organizational and communication skills.
• Possesses strong attention to detail and a proven ability to take initiative.
• Exhibits excellent customer service skills when interacting with internal and external constituents.
• Must have the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Social Media Technology.
• Must reside in downstate New York (Westchester or New York City).
