Job Description
Job Title: Grassroots Organizer Intern
Team: Field Canvass team
Primary Goal/Purpose: To gain hands-on experience in grassroots advocacy, community organizing, and public policy while making a real impact on vital environmental issues. The role involves canvassing communities around these issues through grassroots organizing.
Internship Duration: 10 to 16 weeks long.
Key Responsibilities:
• One-on-one communication: Engaging directly with community members.
• Fundraising: Raising financial support for the organization’s campaigns.
• Collecting calls-to-actions: Gathering support for legislative actions, such as petitions, signatures, and handwritten letters addressed to lawmakers.
• Dispersing information: Educating the public about the environmental issues and Clean Water Action’s efforts.
• Good record keeping: Maintaining accurate records of interactions and collected data.
Specific Campaigns/Issues to Address:
• Reversing the Supreme Court decision to weaken the Clean Water Act.
• Banning PFAS from household products.
• Uplifting Environmental Justice communities by holding known pollution facilities accountable.
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Position Type:
• Part-time: 3 to 4 days per week
• Full-time: 5 days per week
Hours: 2 pm to 9 pm
Schedule: Monday through Friday
Compensation:
• Hourly Rate: $16 an hour
• Bonus Opportunities: Available in addition to the hourly wage.
