Job Description
This is a detailed description for the 2026 Summer Internship Program at Grace.
• Job Title: 2026 Summer Internship Program
• Purpose of Internship:
• To address Grace’s day-to-day business needs through focused projects.
• To enable interns to create solutions and/or streamline processes.
• To provide valuable work experience that helps interns define their career and personal aspirations.
• To foster professional growth through networking and professional development activities.
• Potential Project Disciplines:
• Engineering/Process Technology
• Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)
• Research & Development
• Maintenance and Reliability
• Capital Management
• General Internship Details:
• Duration: 12 weeks, specifically from June 1st to August 14th.
• Potential Locations: Interns may be placed in Columbia or Curtis Bay, MD; East Chicago, IN; Pasadena, TX; Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Norco, LA; or South Haven, MI.
• Compensation: The internship is paid hourly, and all students will also receive a $3,000 stipend.
• Work Arrangement: All projects will be conducted on-site.
• Post-Internship Opportunity (Manufacturing Leadership Program – MLP):
• Upon successful completion of the MLP Track Internship, interns will be considered for Grace’s Manufacturing Leadership Program (MLP).
• MLP Overview: This is a three-year program designed for recent bachelor’s and master’s graduates. Participants explore a variety of operations experiences through hands-on program assignments under the guidance of a senior-level mentor.
• MLP Rotations: Participants rotate through three one-year assignments in disciplines such as Process Engineering, Project Engineering, Supply Chain, and Environmental, Health & Safety.
• MLP Development: The program also includes professional training and development to strengthen leadership skills.
• Examples of Past Technical Internship Projects:
• Research and Development: Synthesizing, purifying, and characterizing small organic molecules for testing as new catalyst components.
• CBM Automated Reporting: Developing a process to automatically collect condition-based monitoring data in real-time on machine health and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) about potential failures.
• Metrics Scorecard and Reporting Rollout: Assisting in the design and development of new manufacturing metric reports.
• Site Winterization Planning: Assisting in planning for site winterization, including generating item lists and ordering materials.
• New Product Development and Pilot-Scale Equipment Support: Developing fundamental knowledge of laboratory-scale and pilot-scale catalyst synthesis.
• Required Qualifications:
• Applicants MUST be entering their junior or senior year of their bachelor’s degree program.
• Graduation Date: Must be in 2027 or 2028.
• Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related science or engineering field.
• Availability: Must have the ability to work the entire duration of the program (June – August) without any interruptions, except for company holidays.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Clear and excellent communication skills.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new environments.
• A minimum cumulative 3.0 grade point average (GPA).
• Interest in Grace’s Manufacturing Leadership Program (if eligible).
• Experience working with MS Suite (Microsoft Office).
