Job Description

This role is for the Ignite Internship Program, specifically within the Accounting Department, for the summer of 2026.

Overview of the Internship Program:
The Ignite Internship Program is an 11-week, full-time experience designed to provide college students with a comprehensive look into the world of insurance. Interns will gain skills and knowledge by immersing themselves in their chosen business area. The program offers exposure to the corporate environment through on-the-job assignments, team projects, interactions with senior leadership and executives, and a community volunteer day, all aimed at building meaningful relationships within the organization.

Location:
This is a hybrid position located at Selective’s corporate office in Branchville, NJ. Applicants must be within commuting distance of this location.

Accounting Department Responsibilities:
The Accounting Department is central to the organization’s financial and business metrics infrastructure. Its core functions include reporting clear and accurate financial data both internally and to external agencies.

Intern Responsibilities:
The Accounting Intern will contribute to the department by:
• Accurately recording financial transactions into the accounting system.
• Performing reconciliations by comparing financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Creating detailed financial exhibits and compiling comprehensive reports to provide insights into the company’s financial status.
• Providing assistance with a variety of tasks and projects as they arise.

Qualifications – Knowledge and Requirements:
• Must be a current college student actively working towards an Accounting degree (rising seniors preferred).
• Demonstrate self-starter capabilities, ability to take direction, follow instructions, and show attention to detail.
• Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment, perform under pressure, and successfully multi-task.
• Exhibit an interest in learning about the insurance industry.
• Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred.
• College credit can be earned, depending on the intern’s institution’s requirements.

Qualifications – Education and Experience:
• A High School Diploma is required.
• Ideal candidates will be full-time undergraduate college Juniors or Seniors, capable of performing at a professional level.

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay Range: USD $21.00 – USD $24.00 /Hr.
