About the Job: Data Science Intern

This internship is designed for curious, driven, and analytical individuals to join HireShire’s Data Science Internship Cohort.

Role Overview: As a Data Science Intern, you will collaborate with the engineering and strategy teams to design data-driven solutions. These solutions will power smarter hiring, workforce planning, and operational decision-making within the company. This is a hands-on role involving work with real business datasets to build production-ready analytics models and dashboards.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and transforming structured and semi-structured HR and recruitment datasets.
• Building predictive models for talent forecasting, attrition risk, and candidate success scores.
• Developing data visualizations, dashboards, and reports using Python, SQL, and BI tools.
• Performing Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) to uncover insights that inform recruitment strategies.
• Working with time-series and cohort data for trend analysis and performance metrics.
• Deploying statistical and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms (regression, clustering, classification) in scalable pipelines.
• Communicating findings and recommendations clearly through visual and written formats to stakeholders.

Requirements (Mandatory):
• Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a B.Tech/BE/M.Tech/MSc degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python and its core libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Matplotlib/Seaborn, Scikit-learn).
• Familiarity with SQL for querying relational datasets.
• A sound understanding of ML fundamentals, including supervised and unsupervised learning methods.
• A strong foundation in statistics, encompassing distributions, hypothesis testing, and probability.
• Ability to interpret data, derive insights, and present conclusions clearly.
• Strong communication skills, an ownership mindset, and enthusiasm to learn.

Nice to Have (Bonus Skills):
• Knowledge of Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or Metabase.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, or familiarity with Docker.
• Prior exposure to HR analytics or recruitment datasets.

Hiring Process:
1. Online Application: Submit CV, GitHub/Kaggle links, and a brief note on your interest and experience.
2. Technical Assessment: An assignment to test Python, SQL, EDA, or modeling approach skills.
3. Technical Interview: An in-depth 45-minute discussion on ML/statistics understanding and problem-solving abilities.
4. Managerial Interview: Evaluation of communication skills, culture fit, and motivation.
5. Offer: Selected applicants receive the internship offer with stipend details and project allocation.
6. Onboarding: Orientation, project assignment, and setup with tools and mentors.

Stipend: The minimum stipend starts at $22/hour, with the possibility of a higher rate based on performance in the interviews.
