Job Description: Investigative /Forensic Engineering Intern (Summer)

This is a summer internship program located in Nashville, TN, within American Structurepoint’s Investigative /Forensic Engineering Group.

Overview of the Role:
The Investigative Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience both in the field and in the office. This role involves assisting with investigations of damaged buildings, assessing structural conditions, and helping design repair solutions. Interns will work closely with licensed engineers and architects, contribute to technical reports, and utilize software such as AutoCAD and Revit for creating drawings and models. This internship offers a chance to explore structural forensics, develop technical skills, and play a role in restoring and preserving the built environment.

Responsibilities (What you will do):
• Work alongside senior team members to investigate damaged or deteriorating buildings and structures, acting like a detective for architecture and engineering.
• Help develop repair and restoration plans for structures made of wood, masonry, concrete, and steel, focusing on bringing old buildings back to life.
• Contribute to technical reports that document findings and solutions, sharpening writing and analysis skills.
• Use AutoCAD and/or Revit to create digital drawings and models supporting investigations and repairs.
• Perform other tasks as needed to support the team.

Qualifications:
• Currently a student majoring in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related program with a focus on Civil Engineering.
• Possession of a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license for travel between job sites.
AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is a plus.
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and an eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
Ability/Willingness to climb ladders and scaffolding, work from heights, walk roofs, and access crawl spaces and other areas of limited accessibility.
