This is an Entry Level position for professional engineering work, likely an Engineer Intern I role based on the responsibilities.

General Summary:
The position involves performing assignments designed to develop professional engineering knowledge and abilities in both office and field settings. It requires the application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, with limited judgment exercised on the details of the work. The role involves assigning tasks to and coordinating with Interns and Structural Designers, while having minimal interaction with clients and contractors.

Required Education / Experience:
BSCE/BSAE – OR – MSCE/MSAE degree from an ABET accredited Engineering curriculum.
Certified Engineer-in-Training (must have passed the FE Exam).
• Possesses basic computer skills learned in college, such as spreadsheets and programming logic.

Desired Qualifications:
• Exposure to working with RISA 3D or similar structural modeling software.
• Exposure to working with Revit Structure.
• Has a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (MSCE/MSAE) or is currently pursuing one.
• Has previous engineering and/or construction experience.
• Possesses interest and shows self-motivation in learning structural engineering.
• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

PRODUCTION:
• Focuses on the design of components of structures and tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
• Completes manual design calculations for components of structures.
• Studies and applies building code requirements under the supervision of the Project Manager.
• Uses computer software for analysis and design.
• Accomplishes reference research.
• Uses Revit Structures to prepare BIM models and associated details and plan-work.
• Provides quality-control checks of one’s own work.
• Calculates and checks dimensions to verify contract documents match design.
• Works collaboratively with staff at Haines Structural Group.
• Checks shop drawings and product submittals with review from the Project Manager.
• Assists Project Manager or Engineer Intern II in field observation during construction.
• Completes tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.

MANAGEMENT:
• Oversees Structural Designers.

SUPERVISION & AUTHORITY:
• Has lead responsibilities for Structural Designers and Interns.
• Responsible for workflow production and training of Structural Designers and Interns.
• Responsible for answering job-related BIM questions from Structural Designers and design questions from Interns.
