Job Description: Designer
As a Designer at IBM, you will play a crucial role in crafting end-to-end customer experiences for AI-enabled solutions. Your work will directly contribute to helping businesses make informed, data-driven decisions.
Your Role And Responsibilities will include:
• Translate Insights into Designs: Converting actionable insights derived from the design research team into various design artifacts, including low and high-fidelity mock-ups, design patterns, interactive prototypes, and detailed development-ready specifications.
• Create Visual Assets: Developing a range of visual elements such as high-fidelity mock-ups, graphics, specific design patterns, prototypes, and demonstrations to significantly enhance user interfaces.
• Pattern Collaboration: Actively participating in discussions focused on identifying and establishing common design patterns, shared assets, and efficiencies across the product space.
• Collaborative Development: Working in close collaboration with other design team members and developers to build, update, and modernize user interfaces for software products, primarily utilizing agile methodologies.
• Scenario Design: Designing comprehensive business process scenarios and user flows, specifically for user interfaces and product demonstrations.
• Feedback Loop: Regularly sharing work-in-progress designs and actively engaging in a culture of constructive critique, both giving and receiving feedback.
• Business Context Understanding: Developing a deep understanding of the diverse business problems faced by IBM’s customer base to provide essential context for all deliverables.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborating with a wide array of stakeholders, including design researchers, content designers, developers, and product owners, across various worldwide teams.
• Design Thinking Workshops: Planning, leading, and moderating both virtual and in-person design thinking workshops to foster innovation and problem-solving.
Preferred Education
• A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred for this role.
Required Technical And Professional Expertise
• UI Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to solve complex user problems through effective user interface design, which includes creating mock-ups, prototypes, and documenting interaction patterns.
• Design Tools Proficiency: Proven, hands-on experience with industry-standard design tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, among others.
• Visual Design Skills: Proficiency in creating visually compelling artifacts, including icons, high-fidelity mock-ups, and various other graphical elements essential for user interfaces.
• Design Principles: A solid knowledge of fundamental design principles, including typography, layout, imagery, color theory, and the ability to create efficiencies in visual design workflows.
• Communication Skills: Possessing proven communication skills and the ability to effectively understand and address customer requirements.
• Dynamic Environment: Comfort and adaptability when working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and team-based environment.
• Portfolio Presentation: A strong portfolio showcasing previous design work is a mandatory requirement.
