About the Job: IT Support Intern

The IT Support Intern at Spot is a dynamic role designed to provide front-line technology assistance to end users, both in-person and remotely. This position offers exposure to a wide array of IT Support functions within a professional office environment.

Key Aspects of the Role:

Collaboration: Works directly alongside experienced IT Support staff.
Exposure: Provides hands-on experience in various IT Support facets, including ticketing systems, documentation (creation and following), troubleshooting, and hardware setup.
Interaction: Involves direct engagement with Spot employees, offering technical support and training.

Responsibilities:

Help Desk Operations: Serve as the primary point of contact (first level of response) for incoming support requests from Spot employees.
Support Channels: Respond to support inquiries received via email, phone calls, and in-person interactions.
Device Management: Handle the setup, relocation, and decommissioning of Windows and Mac computers, IP phones, and various other peripheral devices.
Documentation: Create and update knowledgebase articles for the IT Support department to improve efficiency and self-service options.
Asset Management: Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of IT assets and prepare devices for decommissioning, adhering to established disposal processes.
User Account Management: Perform creation, maintenance, and decommissioning of user accounts in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Hardware Installation: Provide assistance with the installation of network, infrastructure, and other IT-related hardware when required.
Project Participation: Engage in project-based work and other assigned duties to support IT initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education: Must be currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Majors: Candidates studying Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or other IT-related fields are preferred.

Required Skills:

Operating Systems: Demonstrated knowledge of both Windows and Mac operating systems.
Hardware/Software Familiarity: Comfortable with common computer hardware, software applications, and peripheral devices.
Problem-Solving: Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Technical Comprehension: Ability to understand and interpret technical documentation effectively.
Teamwork & Independence: Capable of working effectively both independently and as a collaborative member of a team.
Communication: Exhibit professional communication abilities and strong customer service skills.

Work Environment:

Location: This is an in-person role, requiring work between Spot’s two downtown Indianapolis locations.
Setting: A professional office environment.
Physical Demands: May be required to lift equipment up to 40 pounds.
Pace: The role involves a mix of fast-paced days with significant movement on foot, alongside days spent working at a desk.

Pay Information:

Hourly Rate: The compensation for this internship is $18 per hour.
