About the Company: Fast Enterprises

Fast Enterprises is a prominent provider of essential software and services designed to support government agencies and their citizens. Established in 1998, the company revolutionized the way government revenue agencies operated with the introduction of their flagship product, GenTax®. Over the years, Fast Enterprises has significantly expanded its reach beyond tax services to include implementations for various other critical government sectors, such as Motor Vehicle, Driver License, Unemployment Insurance, and Child Support Engagement agencies.

The company emphasizes creating a meaningful and lasting social impact through its work. Fast Enterprises fosters a collaborative in-office problem-solving environment, stressing teamwork and innovation. While the core work environment is fully in-office at one of their locations, candidates are expected to be flexible regarding work location and comfortable working on-site with clients as a significant portion of their implementation work happens directly at client sites across the US. Fast Enterprises is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals, providing reasonable accommodations for the hiring process when needed.

About the Job: Implementation Intern

The Implementation Intern role at Fast Enterprises is a dynamic position that places individuals at the heart of their software implementation projects. Interns are integral members of the team, participating in the full project lifecycle, from the initial requirements-gathering phase all the way through to production support. This role requires a unique blend of technical understanding and business acumen, enabling interns to grasp the technical aspects of system implementation while also understanding the specific business needs of government clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Consultation: Engage directly with government agencies to comprehensively understand their unique business needs and advise on how to best implement the FAST software to serve their constituents effectively.

System Configuration: Configure client-specific functionalities within the software, extending beyond standard out-of-the-box features. This involves utilizing FAST’s proprietary tools within the software’s user interface, and programming languages such as VB.Net or C#.
Data Management: Create and modify SQL queries to efficiently retrieve, manipulate, and manage data within relational databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Feature Deployment: Implement new software features and guide them through rigorous testing processes leading up to their successful deployment.
Confidentiality: Uphold strict confidentiality and adhere to all company policies and relevant laws when handling protected client information.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Academic Background: Currently an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Engineering. Students from other areas of study with relevant technical training or experience will also be considered.
Development Experience: Prior experience in a .NET or similar development environment.
Database Knowledge: Exposure to SQL in database management systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar platforms.
Relocation Flexibility: An openness to relocating for the summer to a project location anywhere throughout the US. Relocation assistance, including coordinated housing, is provided by the FAST Relocation Team.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are paramount. The ideal candidate is described as a “charismatic people person” comfortable interacting with anyone, capable of working effectively in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment.
Work Ethic: Possesses a strong sense of personal ownership and pride in their work.
Teamwork & Independence: Capable of working independently while also contributing significantly and coordinating effectively within a team setting.
