About the Company: Secret Road

Secret Road is a boutique music licensing, management, and publishing company founded in 2007 by Lynn Grossman. Its core mission is to provide opportunities for emerging and known artists to flourish in their careers, with a strong focus on sync placements. The company boasts a successful track record of syncs across various platforms, including Film & TV placements on major streaming services like Netflix, HBO, Amazon, and Hulu, as well as Commercial placements for prominent brands such as Google, Apple, Samsung, and Honda. In addition to its primary services, Secret Road also operates a record label, Secret Road Records, which offers marketing/digital support and access to DSPs for artist releases. The company is primarily based in Los Angeles, with additional offices in New York, Nashville, and Perth.

About the Job: Music Industry Internship

This is an internship opportunity at Secret Road, designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience within the music industry.

Learning Outcomes:
Interns are expected to:
• Gain a better understanding of the music licensing, management, and publishing world.
• Receive an introduction to copyright, publishing, and A&R perspectives through a sync-based lens.
Observe the inner-workings and collaboration of a creative team within a boutique company setting.
Broaden their overall understanding of the music business.

Internship Requirements & Logistics:
• The internship must be for college credit.
• Interns are required to be available 3 full days a week.
• A mandatory Zoom meeting is held every Wednesday morning.
At least two days in the LA office are preferred, indicating a hybrid work model for LA-based interns.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Update the company-wide calendar for upcoming artist shows and showcases.
Assist the Publishing team with DISCO/metadata tasks, specifically:
• DISCO metadata ingestions
• Adding song lyrics to track metadata
• Adding lyric files to Dropbox
• Tracking and updating cover songs in the catalog
• Updating DISCO metadata with appropriate changes
Assist the A&R team with weekly tasks, including:
• Grouping incoming songs by genre, tempo, style, etc.
• Tracking artist releases
• Updating and creating playlists for Secret Road’s Spotify
Assist the TV/Film team with:
• Tracking sync airdates
• Tagging/Auto-Tagging new songs on DISCO
• TV/Film research
• Maintaining the Brief Airtable
Assist the Licensing & Management teams with any supplemental needs.
Participate in weekly company-wide meetings.
