Job Description: Mechanical Lab Intern
Valvoline Global is seeking a motivated Mechanical Lab Intern to join their team at the Ashland Automotive Propulsion Laboratory. This internship provides hands-on experience in a dynamic automotive testing environment. The focus will be on internal combustion engines, powertrain components, and vehicle-level testing, working alongside experienced engineers and technicians. The intern will support real-world research and development projects aimed at driving innovation in automotive lubricant performance.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Assisting technicians and engineers with essential maintenance tasks, repairs, and system installations.
• Helping in the design and setup of various testing components and mechanical assemblies.
• Supporting the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
• Participating directly in problem-solving and diagnostics across different test environments.
• Maintaining accurate documentation, including detailed maintenance logs, test data, and technical observations.
• Providing general technical support as needed within the lab setting.
• Strictly adhering to all safety protocols and company procedures applicable in a lab/testing environment.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and various tools.
• Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and general computer usage.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Solid problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds, walk, climb, and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience (A Plus):
• Experience or interest in 3D CAD modeling.
• Experience or interest in 3D printing.
• Experience or interest in data acquisition systems.
