Job Description: Estimating Clerk/Intern

This is a fast-paced Estimating Clerk/Intern position located in West Valley City, Utah, designed for individuals looking to start a career in construction estimating. The role focuses on providing essential support to experienced estimators in heavy civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be a bright, motivated, talented, and quick learner, primarily assisting estimators with tasks like completing take-offs from plans and providing general support for various project needs. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside top professionals in the estimating field.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Working alongside laborers, operators, and truck drivers in all aspects of heavy civil construction.
• Assisting in the day-to-day management of overall project operations, people, and processes to learn all facets of the construction industry.
• Managing critical path timelines.
• Participating in construction meetings with owners, architects, and engineers.
• Understanding construction plans and assisting in surveying.
• Assisting Project Managers with technical compliance and oversight of construction activities and field operations.
• Reading and interpreting drawings, blueprints, specifications, and related technical documents.
• Assisting with project scheduling and coordination.
• Performing other duties as required to support the estimating team.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a BA/BS degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated desire to pursue a career in estimating / cost management.
Field and/or internship experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
• Experience in On-Screen Takeoff is a plus.
• Must be self-directed with high integrity and take pride in their work.
• Possess strong accuracy and organizational skills.
• Have good comprehension of construction drawings and specifications.
• Understand and adhere to Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) requirements.
