Job Description: Volkert Internship Program (VIP)

The Volkert Internship Program (VIP) is designed for undergraduate students to explore their career field within the industry and determine if Volkert aligns with their future aspirations.

Program Details:
Purpose: To help undergraduate students explore the industry and their major field.
Location: This position may be based out of their Camp Hill, PA or Lenhartsville, PA offices.
Assistance: Volkert does not offer relocation or housing assistance for this program.
Eligibility: Specifically for undergraduate students; graduates should apply to full-time opportunities.
Timing: Primarily offered during the summer, but may also be considered throughout fall or spring semester based on office needs and resources.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Explore the industry and your specific major field.
Learn systems, processes, and best practices relevant to the field.
Receive a project assignment or job duties directly related to your major.
Learn business and office etiquette.
Understand safety procedures when working in the field.
Present your project or overall internship experience to leadership at the conclusion of your internship.

What You Need To Have (Requirements):
Enrollment Status: Must be an enrolled full-time undergraduate student.
Academic Standing:
• A minimum of Sophomore standing is recommended.
• High school graduates with Freshman standing may be considered if involved in a STEM or leadership program.
GPA: A cumulative 2.50 undergraduate GPA is required.
Major/Degree Program: Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program related to one of the following fields:
Civil Engineering
Structural Engineering
Construction Management
Civil Engineering Technology
Work Hours:
Preference to work 40 hours per week (plus overtime, if necessary).
• A minimum of 30 hours per week during the summer.
• Hours may vary during the spring or fall semester.
Drug Screening: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana, noting that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines.
Driver’s License: Possess a valid driver’s license.
