Job Description, Detailed

The Intern Project: Youth Sports Intern position is designed to assist the Regional Sports Director and/or Sports Coordinator in the comprehensive execution of all youth sports leagues, activities, and camps.

Key responsibilities include:

Marketing and Promotion: Assisting in identifying potential programs and marketing ideas.
Operational Management: Creating rosters and schedules for youth sports.
Stakeholder Interaction: Interacting and planning with various parties including sites, vendors, referees, coaches, and parents. This involves managing and following up with coaches on any roster, schedule, or site changes.
Event Oversight: Overseeing all youth sports events.
Coordination: Coordinating with Field or Gym Monitors regarding program needs for weekends.
Partnership Building: Working on building relationships with potential vendors or sponsors.
Compliance & Safety: Ensuring all First Coast YMCA standards and best practices are implemented and followed. This includes adhering to YMCA policies and procedures related to best practices, emergency procedures, medical and disciplinary situations, and child abuse prevention. The intern is also responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all members/guests and inspecting physical spaces for safety, orderliness, sanitation, and cleanliness.

Qualifications and Desired Skills:

Organizational and Execution Skills: Good organizational and execution skills with a strong focus on detail.
Teamwork and Independence: Strong team player who can also work independently.
Collaboration: Enjoys collaborating and takes directions from other team members.
Communication: High level of written and oral communication.
Technical Proficiency: Good knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Customer Service: Excellent customer service is required.

Interns will gain all necessary skills to provide them with the tools and resources to connect organizations for better membership engagement and services. This hands-on experience will encompass understanding the nature of the YMCA’s work, its aims, policies, and procedures.

Intern candidates agree to assume responsibility for learning about the YMCA’s work, aims, policies, and procedures. While associated with the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast, interns must exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all aspects of their work and abide by all YMCA policies, rules, and procedures. Additionally, interns agree to fulfill all assigned tasks to the best of their ability, making no significant changes in the established schedule without prior knowledge of the YMCA and partnering organization.
