Job Description: Youth Soccer Programs Intern

This is an unpaid internship offering hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment within Sporting Kansas City’s youth soccer programs. The intern will contribute directly to the organization’s professional soccer initiatives in Kansas City and surrounding areas.

Essential Functions:

Program Development & Implementation: Collaborate with a team to enhance the overall strategy and philosophy of youth soccer programs (ages 2-14), typically working with groups of 10 children per class at various locations.
Coaching: Lead and assist in 45-60 minute training sessions, focusing on fun, engagement, and foundational soccer skills. A child-centered approach is crucial.
Health & Wellness Promotion: Emphasize the importance of active and healthy lifestyles.
Travel & Logistics: Travel to various facilities to support program operations. Travel to Midwest cities for camp representation may also be required.
Match Day Responsibilities: Act as a Sporting KC representative at home games, engaging with guests and creating positive fan experiences.
General Responsibilities: Attend all Sporting KC home games and other organizational events. Maintain a professional demeanor representing Sporting KC and its affiliates. Complete other assigned tasks.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management or a related field, or recent graduate with a related degree. Academic credit through a university program is required.
Preferred: Experience working with children and coaching experience.
• Ability to work independently on projects and present findings to a group.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; exceptional attention to detail.
• Professional appearance and attitude; ability to collaborate effectively.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Calendar).
