Interns work across various departments and are guided by subject matter experts. Internships are project-based, with skills requirements varying depending on the project.
Job Description:
This is a year-long (2025-2026) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) internship within the Chief Planning and Innovation Officer department’s Strategic Planning unit. The internship is part-time (15 hours/week) during the school year and full-time (40 hours/week) during the summer. The intern will:
• Gather and analyze current census data released in GIS format.
• Review rail and bus routes using the CTA’s current GIS processes.
• Research and devise an updated census data analysis process.
• Create an online web application to showcase updated census data for CTA staff and stakeholders.
The primary work location is CTA Headquarters (567 W. Lake Street, Chicago, Illinois 60661). The position requires on-site work twice a week.
