This co-op/internship offers a unique opportunity to launch a career in the cutting-edge field of healthcare at Sanofi. Interns will gain invaluable skills, experiences, and insights within Sanofi’s state-of-the-art biomanufacturing facility in Cambridge, working closely with next-generation technology and industry experts. The role provides mentoring and guidance from inspirational leaders, contributing directly to making an impact on the lives of countless patients worldwide.
Main Responsibilities:
The co-op/intern will play an active role in supporting the Public Affairs and Patient Advocacy team through various critical tasks:
• Meeting Preparation: Support and assist in preparations for meetings between internal leadership and external leaders within the patient advocacy community.
• Landscape Assessments: Conduct comprehensive landscape assessments of disease communities to help identify and drive innovative solutions and programs that address the specific needs and gaps faced by patients.
• Trend Analysis: Identify and analyze trending topics, discussions, and sentiments related to healthcare, patient experiences, and medical advancements.
• Communication & Presentation: Assist in summarizing findings and developing presentations to share relevant learnings with internal cross-functional teams.
• Policy Research: Research healthcare policies, legislation, and regulations that directly impact patients’ access to care and treatment.
• Policy Analysis: Analyze proposed healthcare policies and their potential effects on patients, preparing concise summaries for advocacy efforts.
• Access Impact Analysis: Analyze policy changes and their impact on patient access to healthcare services.
• Event Planning & Execution: Assist in planning and executing public affairs events, such as policy forums, scientific exchanges, and Congress leadership meetings with patient advocacy organizations.
• Program Tracking: Track and report on patient advocacy organizations’ patient education and awareness programs to help inform internal team strategies.
• Professional Development: Actively participate in training and educational opportunities to enhance knowledge of public affairs, advocacy, and policy issues.
Learning Objectives:
Through this co-op/internship, participants will achieve significant professional development, including:
• External Relationship Building: Understand how to build and maintain external advocacy relationships by liaising effectively with US patient groups, medical and professional societies, and other key stakeholders in the advocacy community. This liaison work will be crucial in informing internal decision-making and developing patient-centric initiatives.
• Healthcare System Understanding: Gain a deep understanding of the US healthcare system through engagement in cross-functional projects. These projects aim to develop timely, evidence-based, and patient-centric solutions.
• Critical Skill Development: Identify and develop key critical skills necessary to manage partnerships and projects effectively within a global, diversified healthcare solutions company.
About You:
Basic Qualifications:
• Enrollment Status: Currently enrolled and actively pursuing a PhD in life sciences, health sciences, or a related scientific field at an accredited college or university.
• Work Arrangement: Must be able to relocate to the office location (Cambridge, MA) and commit to working 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, for the full duration of the co-op/internship program.
• Work Authorization: Must be permanently authorized to work in the U.S. and *not• require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT typically require future sponsorship for long-term employment and therefore generally do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), TEAMs, and SharePoint.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Work Ethic: Willingness to work independently.
• Commitment: Demonstrated high level of commitment to assignments.
