WELCOME CENTER ASSISTANT | State of Tennessee
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at the State of Tennessee, Department of Tourist Development, located in East Ridge, TN. As an entry-level position, the Welcome Center Assistant is crucial for creating a positive first impression for visitors to Tennessee. This role directly supports the state’s tourism efforts by providing essential information and maintaining welcoming facilities, ensuring guests have a smooth and enjoyable experience while visiting the state.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Guest Services: Greet visitors, provide maps, brochures, and information on Tennessee tourism points of interest, routes, and accommodations, and answer telephone inquiries.
• Accommodation Assistance: Assist guests in securing accommodations through the hotel/motel/campground reservation system and maintain related records.
• Center Upkeep: Keep assigned restrooms serviced and clean, and perform other cleaning or custodial work within the main building and entrances.
• Resource Management: Maintain an ample and organized supply of distributed tourism materials, periodically checking inventory and knowing the location of the first aid kit.
• Emergency Response: Attend to emergencies when necessary and perform other related duties as required for smooth operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school.
• Experience: One year of full-time public contact work; qualifying full-time experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
• Skills: Customer and Personal Service, Effective Communication, Service Orientation, Resourcefulness, Problem Sensitivity.
• Bonus: Customer Service experience preferred.
