Wealth Management Intern | CAPTRUST

The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at CAPTRUST, located in the Phoenix, AZ office, for the fall semester. CAPTRUST operates as a comprehensive wealth management firm, distinguished by its robust tax practice. This role is crafted to immerse an intern in the daily operations and foundational principles of wealth management, offering direct, hands-on learning experiences from the outset. The intern will receive training in diverse areas of wealth planning, wealth management strategies, and the specialized software tools essential to the firm’s functions. This position provides a practical pathway to understanding the industry while supporting the firm’s commitment to high standards and client service.

• Mission: This person will assist in the day-to-day operations of a wealth management firm, providing support across tax planning, client service, and internal projects.
• Tech Stack: Specific firm software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

What You’ll Actually Do
• Tax & Compliance: Assist with aspects of tax planning and compliance, gaining exposure to the firm’s robust tax practice.
• Client Service: Provide direct support to client services, which includes assisting with client meeting preparation and observing client interactions in a support role.
• Financial Planning: Participate in various forms of financial planning, such as cash flow planning, estate planning, cash management, balance sheet planning, and operational business planning.
• Project Management: Contribute to special projects, which may involve both internal firm initiatives and client-specific assignments, including potential software conversion projects.
• Administrative Support: Offer assistance to the administrative teams as needed, encompassing a range of general administrative tasks to ensure smooth firm operations.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, specifically a rising Junior or first-semester Senior, with a significant interest in individual taxation and wealth management.
• Experience: High-level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Skills: Strong critical thinking abilities, excellent communication and writing skills for conveying complex information, a detail-oriented approach to multitasking, and the highest personal ethics with an ability to maintain confidentiality. This role also requires a team-player mindset with a strong sense of urgency and a commitment to collaborative, trusting relationships.
• Bonus: Academic concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Financial Planning, or Taxation.
