Job Description: Water Distribution Intern
Brainerd Public Utilities is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Water Distribution Intern to assist the Water Distribution crew with various tasks and projects. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the water utility industry. The intern will work under the guidance of experienced professionals and contribute to the efficient operation and maintenance of the water distribution system.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, service lines, valves, and hydrants.
• Participate in water quality sampling and monitoring activities.
• Learn and assist with leak detection and repair.
• Assist in the operation and maintenance of pumping stations and water storage facilities.
• Assist with the reading and maintenance of water meters.
• Assist with locating underground utilities.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
• Assist with special projects as assigned.
• Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment.
• Assist with responding to customer inquiries and concerns.
This is a hands-on position that requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical labor. The intern will gain valuable experience in the following areas:
• Water distribution system operation and maintenance
• Water quality monitoring

• Utility locating
• Record keeping
• Safety procedures
