Job Description: Volkert Internship Program (VIP)

This posting is specifically for the Volkert Internship Program (VIP), designed for undergraduate students to explore their career fields within the industry. It is not for graduated individuals, who should instead apply to full-time opportunities.

Location:
• Camp Hill, PA
• Lenhartsville, PA

Assistance:
No relocation or housing assistance is offered.

Program Overview:
• The VIP is primarily offered during the summer, but may also be considered throughout the fall or spring semester depending on office needs and resources.
• The program aims to provide students with a foundational understanding of the industry and their major.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Explore the industry and your specific major field.
Learn company systems, processes, and best practices.
Receive a project assignment or job duties directly related to your major.
Learn business and office etiquette.
Understand safety procedures when working in the field.
Present your project or experience to leadership at the conclusion of your internship.

What You Need To Have (Requirements):
Enrollment: Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student.
Academic Standing:
Minimum of Sophomore standing is recommended.
• High school graduates with Freshman standing may be considered if involved in a STEM or leadership program.
GPA: A cumulative 2.50 undergraduate GPA is required.
Major: Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program related to one of the following fields:
Civil Engineering
Structural Engineering
Construction Management
Civil Engineering Technology
Work Hours:
Preference to work 40 hours per week (plus overtime, if necessary).
• A minimum of 30 hours per week during the summer is required.
• Hours may vary during the spring or fall semester.
Drug Screening: Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana, regardless of state-specific guidelines.
Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.
