Job Description: Virtual Design Construction (VDC) Specialist

This entry-level position offers a career path to Senior Virtual Design Construction Specialist. The role focuses on supporting project teams and internal clients by utilizing various VDC processes and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

Core VDC Specialist Tasks:
• Creating and maintaining project models and documentation (meeting agendas, minutes, constraint logs).
• Assembling 3D content from various sources and modeling any missing components.
• Supporting the RFI process for BIM-related items.
• Collaborating with subcontractors and project teams.
• Learning and applying JE Dunn’s VDC processes and standards.
• Interpreting construction documents and project BIM requirements.
• Incorporating design updates into project models.
• Identifying and correcting errors and omissions in construction documents and models.
• (For self-perform VDC roles) Managing models and layouts.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Accuracy and timeliness in completing tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Ability to set up and manage project-specific VDC technology.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications.
• Strong team collaboration skills, both internally and externally.
• Proficiency in BIM technology solutions, including:
Autodesk BIM 360 Glue
Autodesk Construction Cloud
Autodesk Design Collaboration
Autodesk Revit (Architecture, Structure, MEP)
Autodesk AutoCAD
Autodesk Navisworks Manage (including JE Dunn clash spheres program)
Trimble’s Sketch-Up
Bluebeam

Education and Experience:

• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Preferred: 0-2 years of construction experience (including internships or co-ops).

Working Environment:

• Primarily office-based, with potential exposure to various construction site conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
• May require occasional non-traditional work hours.
• Travel is typically not required.
